Mixed Martial Arts

Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) is a full-contact combat sport that combines elements from various martial arts disciplines, including striking and grappling techniques. Competitors can use techniques from disciplines such as boxing, wrestling, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, Muay Thai, karate, and judo, among others. MMA matches typically take place in a cage or an enclosed ring, with specific rules and regulations governing the combat to ensure athlete safety. The objective of MMA is to defeat the opponent through submission, knockout, or judges’ decision after a predetermined number of rounds. MMA has grown significantly in popularity since its inception in the early 1990s, leading to the establishment of professional organizations such as the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) that showcase elite athletes competing at the highest level.
