Basketball

Basketball is a team sport in which two teams, typically consisting of five players each, compete to score points by throwing a ball through the opposing team’s hoop, which is elevated ten feet above the floor. The game is played on a rectangular court with a hoop at each end. Points can be scored in various ways, including field goals (2 or 3 points based on distance from the hoop) and free throws (1 point for each attempt awarded after certain fouls). Basketball emphasizes skills such as dribbling, shooting, passing, and teamwork. It originated in the late 19th century and has since grown into one of the most popular sports globally, with professional leagues such as the NBA (National Basketball Association) and significant international competitions, including the FIBA World Cup and the Olympics. The sport is known for its fast pace and high-scoring nature, making it exciting to play and watch.
