Football

Football is a team sport played between two teams, typically consisting of eleven players each, on a rectangular field with a goal at each end. The objective of the game is to score by advancing a ball into the opposing team’s goal using primarily the feet, although players may use any part of their body except their hands and arms, with the exception of the goalkeeper, who may use their hands within a designated area.

Football is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game, which are maintained by the International Football Association Board (IFAB). The sport is known for its emphasis on teamwork, strategy, and skill, and is played at amateur and professional levels worldwide. It is the most popular sport globally, with major international competitions such as the FIFA World Cup and continental tournaments like the UEFA European Championship and the Copa America drawing millions of fans and participants. Various regional variations of the game exist, and it is referred to as “soccer” in some countries, notably the United States and Canada, to distinguish it from other forms of football.
